Oni više uopšte nisu verni. Dobio sam toliko glupih izgovora da nije smešno. Takođe sam igrao tamo godinama i nikada nisam imao problema sa isplatom do prošlog oktobra kada su obnovili sajt....

It takes sometimes just one thing to trigger a memory. My father has passed away now for a few years. My grandparents were born and raised in the UK (Ireland) and what i never realized was that while growing up some of those traditions were in our house.
I had gone to breakfast one morning with the newlyweds and everything was great. The sun was shining and we had a full day planned. Excited about trying the "English" breakfast i looked at the menu and saw "fried toast". Instantly i remembered as a child having this alllllllll the time and it was my dads fav. It jarred such a memory of him that the tears began to well up in my eyes. I always wondered why kids in the neighborhood never had "fried toast"! Didn't every house?
Further down on the description of this breakfast was included baked beans. Omg my father was a huge baked bean man. Not once did i trace his roots to this food. It was just one of those things when you are growing up that you don't think about, it just is.
I felt a real connection to my ancestors and my dad while i was there. Though these things may sound trivial but it was a sensation of connecting to the past and the roots we all carry with us to some extent.
I have not made "fried toast" since i have been out on my own but i think i just may start and not let the tradition die!
Do you have any traditions or dishes that were handed down through the generations?

Ponekad je potrebna samo jedna stvar da pokrene sećanje. Moj otac je preminuo već nekoliko godina. Moji deda i baka su rođeni i odrasli u UK (Irska) i ono što nikada nisam shvatio je da su neke od tih tradicija bile u našoj kući dok sam odrastao.
Jednog jutra sam otišao na doručak sa mladencima i sve je bilo odlično. Sunce je sijalo i planirali smo ceo dan. Uzbuđen što sam probao „engleski“ doručak, pogledao sam jelovnik i video „prženi tost“. Odmah sam se setio da sam kao dete imao ovo svellllll vreme i to je bilo omiljeno moje tate. Toliko je uzdrmalo sećanje na njega da su mi počele da naviru suze. Uvek sam se pitao zašto deca u komšiluku nikada nisu imala „prženi tost“! Zar nije svaka kuća?
Dalje u opisu ovog doručka uključen je pečeni pasulj. Omg moj otac je bio veliki čovek od pečenog pasulja. Ni jednom nisam ušao u trag njegovim korenima do ove hrane. To je bila samo jedna od onih stvari kada odrastaš o kojima ne razmišljaš, već jednostavno jeste.
Osetio sam pravu vezu sa svojim precima i ocem dok sam bio tamo. Iako ove stvari mogu zvučati trivijalno, ali to je bio osećaj povezivanja sa prošlošću i korenima koje svi u izvesnoj meri nosimo sa sobom.
Nisam pravio "prženi tost" otkad sam izašao sam, ali mislim da bih mogao da počnem i da ne dozvolim da tradicija umre!
Imate li neku tradiciju ili jela koja su se prenosila kroz generacije?

My mom used to make me english muffin pizzas when I was a kid. I loved them. A few years back I had her make that for my birthday dinnerPotpuno razumem kako je to izazvalo suze u tvojim očima. Treba da unesete prženi tost u svoj život!

Omggggggg i almost forgot about them! They are so super easy to make and were a lunch cafeteria favorite. We would go bonkers on English muffin pizza day!
Some of the recipes my mom makes i can't seem to duplicate. She makes a fudge that is off the Hershey's cocoa can that i can NOT make to save my life. In fact most people have tried and i think it has to be the toughest recipes ever.
Hershey had that fudge recipe on their can for years. I just wonder how many peeps could actually make it.
LipsOmgggggg umalo da zaboravim na njih! Tako su super laki za pravljenje i bili su omiljeni u kafeteriji za ručak. Poludeli bismo na dan pice sa engleskim kolačićima!
Neke od recepata koje moja mama pravi ne mogu da ponovim. Ona pravi fudž koji je od Hershei's kakao konzerve, a ja NE mogu da napravim da bih spasio svoj život. U stvari, većina ljudi je probala i mislim da su to najteži recepti ikada.
Hershei je godinama imao taj recept za fudž na svojoj konzervi. Samo se pitam koliko bi virtulja moglo da uspe.

I tried that recipe and the first time it was more of a chocolate sauce than a fudge. I just remember thinking oh this isn't right I made it again and it turned out semi decent.
Darn you Hershey's!Probao sam taj recept i prvi put je više bio čokoladni sos nego fudž. Samo se sećam da sam pomislio o, ovo nije u redu Napravio sam ga ponovo i ispalo je polupristojno.

My pops has been gone for awhile too lips so I can relate :'(.He was raised in Ireland and came to the States when he was 20 and I loved to here him and his sis talk Gaelic .Fried toast..hmmm,not sure if we did have it or if I just don.t remember.He was definitely a meat and potatoes man with gravy on everything My mom on the Italian side made biscotti,pizzelle (Italian waffle cookies) and of course homemade ravioli..yum!/color]I moj tata je već neko vreme nestao sa usana pa mogu da se povežem :'(.Odrastao je u Irskoj i došao je u Sjedinjene Države kada je imao 20 godina i volela sam da ovde on i njegova sestra pričaju gelski .Prženi tost..hmmm,nisam siguran da li smo ga imali ili se jednostavno ne sećam.On je definitivno bio čovek od mesa i krompira sa sosom na svemu Moja mama sa italijanske strane je napravila biscotti, picele (italijanske vafle) i naravno domaće raviole..ium!/color] -

Ah Lips, you kicked off a memory for me of when I was a young "gal". You call it fried toast, we always called it fried bread. I recall my Mum making me fried bread when I was knee high to a grasshopper and I remember saying to her that I was going to have it every day when I got married. I still love it to this day but it's not a daily treat I allow myself!
As you know, my roots are in Ireland too but I don't recall anything specifically Irish that my Grandmother or Mother used to make. Maybe I will have to do some research.
blueAh Lips, pokrenula si mi uspomenu na vreme kada sam bila mlada. Vi to zovete prženi tost, mi smo to uvek zvali prženi hleb. Sećam se da mi je mama spremala hleb kada sam bila do kolena skakavcu i sećam se da sam joj govorila da ću ga jesti svaki dan kada se udam. I dan-danas ga volim, ali to nije svakodnevna poslastica koju sebi dozvoljavam!
Kao što znate, i moji koreni su u Irskoj, ali se ne sećam ničega posebno irskog što su moja baka ili majka radile. Možda ću morati da istražim.

My mom made this wonderful rice pudding for breakfast as a special treat... it involved lots of whipped egg whites and was so sweet and creamy... yummy...

Moja mama je napravila ovaj divni puding od pirinča za doručak kao posebnu poslasticu... uključivao je mnogo umućenih belanaca i bio je tako sladak i kremast... ukusan...

I make killer hershey's cocoa fudge. Absolutely fabulous I can eat the whole thing if nobody beats me to it. Not that I do, but I could.
My dad's thing was venison chili. He was 1/4 native american, and hunting deer was in his blood. He'd make a gigantic pot or two every season.
the only thing I remember my grandparents making, that must have been some kind of cultural thing was scrambled eggs and brains. ewwww. I could never force myself to eat those, and won't carry on that tradition.
My family tradition is stolen from a mixed Japanese/American couple- hamburger hash. Ground beef, onion, a little corn, and potatoes fried up in the skillet (covered with Heinz for me). Everyone still makes that.
My mom would make another old timey favorite that nobody seems to know about - Skippys. (from skippy peanut butter). Take a hamburger bun, spread peanut butter on each side, top with a slice of sliced pineapple, put a slice of american cheese (or cheddar) on top, and bake in 350 degree oven until cheese is melty. Mmmm Mmmm Good!Pravim ubicu Hershei's kakao fudge. Apsolutno fantastično mogu da pojedem celu stvar ako me niko ne pobedi. Nije da znam, ali mogao bih.
Moj tata je voleo čili od divljači. Bio je 1/4 Indijanac, a lov na jelene bio mu je u krvi. Svake sezone napravio bi gigantski lonac ili dva.
jedino što se sećam da su moji baka i deda pravili, to mora da je bila neka kulturna stvar je kajgana i mozak. evv. Nikad se ne bih mogao naterati da ih jedem, i neću nastaviti tu tradiciju.
Moja porodična tradicija je ukradena iz mešanog japansko-američkog para - hamburger. Mlevena govedina, crni luk, malo kukuruza i krompir prženi u tiganju (za mene prekriven Hajncom). To još uvek svi prave.
Moja mama bi napravila još jedan stari favorit za koji izgleda niko ne zna - Skippis. (od skippi putera od kikirikija). Uzmite lepinju za hamburger, namažite puterom od kikirikija sa svake strane, na vrh stavite krišku isečenog ananasa, na vrh stavite krišku američkog sira (ili čedara) i pecite u rerni zagrejanoj na 350 stepeni dok se sir ne istopi. Mmmm Mmmm Dobro! -

I remember when my Mother would make sauerkraut and keilbasa in a pan. The kids would scatter when she did. Years later, I tried it and fell in love with it like her chicken and dumplings.
I think it was a year ago, I was passing a family and you could smell it when they started serving it (Picnic area) I kept walking, though I nearly hit a tree for the tears in my eyes in memory of her.Sećam se kada je moja mama pravila kiseli kupus i keilbasu u tiganju. Deca bi se razbežala kad bi ona. Godinama kasnije, probao sam je i zaljubio se u nju kao njenu piletinu i knedle.
Mislim da je to bilo pre godinu dana, prolazio sam pored jedne porodice i osetio se miris kada su počeli da je služe (izletište) Nastavio sam da hodam, iako sam skoro udario u drvo zbog suza u očima u znak sećanja na nju. -
