A TV producer (From another section) found this out and threatened to "Out" him unless D. Letterman coughed up $2 million for the silence.
D. Letterman and his lawyer went to the cops who set up the sting and so D. Letterman is looked upon as a "Victim" of a greedy scumbag blackmailer.
There's a bit of a problem with my perception...
You're living with another female, but cheating on her.
Worse yet, you are doing with subordinates..That's low class.
You apologize on TV?? How about to her and then tell the audience "I apologized to my wife and she's decided to forgive me and thank you precious" (Otherwise, he's acting like J. Swaggert)
Frankly, he's playing a good hand in which he's looked on as victim but he's used his position to also be a victimiser.Ahem:

D. Letterman i njegov advokat otišli su kod policajaca koji su podmetnuli ubod i tako se na D. Lettermana gleda kao na "žrtvu" pohlepnog ološa ucenjivača.
Postoji mali problem sa mojom percepcijom...
Živiš sa drugom ženom, ali je varaš.
Još gore, radiš sa podređenima..To je niska klasa.
Izvinjavaš se na TV?? Šta kažete na nju i onda kažete publici "Izvinio sam se svojoj ženi i ona je odlučila da mi oprosti i zahvali se draga" (inače, ponaša se kao Džej Svagert)
Iskreno, on igra dobru ruku u kojoj se na njega gleda kao na žrtvu, ali je iskoristio svoju poziciju da bude i žrtva. -

I think what is really tough is being in the lime light and having your every move scrutinized. I am glad he did not fall for the blackmail attempt.
He stood up to the plate and faced the consequences of going public. I think that right there is a honorable thing to do.
It is easy for us to cast stones when in fact we can lead private lives. We also are not idolized by many many admirers. Temptation does not come as often as for someone in the public eye.
But for those that badger him for being disloyal.......i am really wondering if you had a bevy of beauties frolicking at your feet.....could you say no?
LipsMislim da je ono što je zaista teško biti u centru pažnje i da se svaki vaš potez pažljivo proverava. Drago mi je što nije nasjeo na pokušaj ucjene.
Ustao je do tanjira i suočio se sa posledicama izlaska u javnost. Mislim da je to časna stvar.
Lako nam je da bacimo kamenje kada u stvari možemo da vodimo privatni život. Takođe nas ne obožavaju mnogi obožavaoci. Iskušenje ne dolazi tako često kao za nekoga u očima javnosti.
Ali za one koji ga muče da je nelojalan.......zaista se pitam da li ste imali gomilu lepotica koja se brčkaju pred vašim nogama.....da li biste mogli da kažete ne?

Its about money Doc, Letterman draws the viewers in. Unfortunately for you or i, we are replaceable. Icons are harder to replace. It may seem unfair but then again the viewing audience is what brings in the money. Money is power.

Also reported that a source informed them that Stephanie Birkitt knew nothing of Robert Halderman's plans to extort Letterman and that she was "mortified."
Stephanie Birkitt was a "Late Show with David Letterman" staffer, often playing the foil for many small comedy skits on the show. According to Newsday, she also lived with David Letterman for some time before Letterman married Regina Lasko, with whom he fathered a child in 2003, in March. So why is everyone so interested in Stephanie Birkitt? Where is the scandal in revealing the name of Stephanie Birkitt? It was public knowledge that David Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt had an affair and lived together, so what has provoked such a desire to know more about the 34-year-old former staffer?
Keep in mind Regina Lasko (wife) was also a staffer and worked for Dave before he finally married her.

I understand what many of you are saying.......if it happened to anyone else in their place of employment we would be bounced. Setting that issue aside.....is it really any of our business what another does in their private life.
