Convicted child sex abuser and defrocked Roman Catholic priest John Geoghan died Saturday after he was apparently strangled by a fellow inmate at a Massachusetts prison, according to local officials.

yes, just like karma.  it's a nice little reward for not retaliating and just leaving fate to punish people in a personally satisfying way-by giving them their just deserts!  I don't think most people think of it in it's 'virtue rewarding' version, but more in the punishment way.

Like the young man who killed himself after trying to get a litle help and having the judge send him to boot camp and juvie- the judge is now facing over 100 years in prison for making money off of his harsh sentencing. 

I do believe in Poetic Justice. I think that life has a way biting you right back for the injustice served. I think it is a good philosophy to live by. It keeps us in check and sometimes we just may take the high ride because of it.

Of course no one is perfect and we all mess up in our life and i don't think we pay the piper for every wrong thing we have done. If that was the case we would be spending most of our lives in the penalty box.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence, in a way, regarding the whole judge thing.

First:  I will say the judge broke the law and should be punished, without a doubt.

That being said, what the heck is wrong with someone being sent to juvenile detention for breaking the law?!?  If any of these kids didn't break the law, there would be no chance of punishment.  Yes, I feel for the mother whose son committed suicide but whose fault is it?  Sorry to say, but the boy broke the law.  The punishment may have been harsh but had he been in Singapore... the punishment would have been 100 times more harsh.

I am sick and tired of hearing 'It was only his/her first offense'.  Why is the US the only place that gives 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th chances for crimes?!?  Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Bonnie and Clyde, The Hillside Strangler...and on and on... all had first offenses.  Can you imagine what could have been prevented if there was a stiffer penalty on any of THOSE first offenses?

I don't mind at all that the boy was punished.  What is stinking wrong about it is the judge got paid to make his judgement.  That is just wrong in so many ways, and against the laws and morals upon which our country was founded.  

I, too, feel bad for the mom because she will always be wondering if the judge had NOT been compensated to sentence as he did, would her son have not killed himself.  She will never be able to get over the wondering what if.  That's sad and very wrong. 

I wasn't defending the boy or his actions nor saying his punishment wasn't deserved.  But I have to wonder if this had been a just judge if the sentencing would have been different.  Maybe not.  Maybe he would have made the same decision.  That, I think the mom could have lived with.  But to find out the judge was paid?  It's sickening.

Well how about that guy & his mother who were going by The Aryan Nation Camp in Idaho. They assaulted them and when they lost the case, the family took over the camp and changed it to a peaceful place.

I hope my post didn't come across as disagreeing with you.  You mentioned the judge and I just gave my thoughts on it.   Wasn't argueing or being rude. 

thanks for clearing that up Gabby.  guess I was just in a "oh. Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood" moment and was trying to be sure I cleared up any questions on how I felt. 

but in any case, even if you were arguing, it would have been okay because we all have our own opinions, and you were in no way rude.  I think we are all on the same page with that incident.  I gotta quit watching so much Nancy Grace, though!

I watch enough Nancy Grace too.  Usually agree with her but yesterday... I was almost yelling at her through the TV.  Don't know if you saw it, but she was covering the mom who murdered her 2 teens. Nancy was adamant the mom had nothing to 'not be happy' about since she didn't work and has a nice home.  Hmmmm, not every well do to person is of sane mind and happy.

Anyway.. back on topic... sorry for straying.

I did see parts of that last night.  And to be on topic, I think it is sweet poetic justice that Nancy Grace has such a sweet set of twins, and that her health problems were not such problems as they could have been.
